CORE TRAINING CURRICULUM
Morning Performance Workshop with Theatre Anthropology – 9:00-12:00, Monday-Friday
Physically-demanding storytelling techniques and roots of performance: Training in and juxtaposition of physically-demanding techniques and concurrent discussions of the roots, impetuses, and developments of Performance.
Afternoon Performance Workshop – 13:30-15:00 or 15:30-17:30, Monday-Friday

Theatre-Making Workshop – 13:30-15:00 or 15:30-17:00, Monday-Friday
Without an established text as a map, participants are guided through the process of creating short pieces of theatre, as they react to the chosen narratives and related works of art, music, architecture, etc., and pull from their new understanding of the forms explored throughout the RITL.
Independent Projects – 19:00-22:30, Monday-Friday and 14:30-18:00, Saturday
Students are assigned to work as performers on pieces-in-progress with professional artists-in-residence, advanced directing students, returning participants, and faculty.
Special Topics: lectures/workshops/seminars/readings – 10:00, Saturday
One-time introductory workshops conducted by visiting and resident artists, e.g., explorations of emerging digital technologies within the performing arts (physically interactive media environments and new relationships between author, performer, and audience), traditional and modern approaches to puppetry/object-based performance, creating one-player performances, as well as conversations related to the ongoing investigations of the chosen narratives, the application of parallels, theatre anthropology, rebuilding narratives, the history of collaboration, the fusion of theatrical forms, etc.
